Wolves Win the Rebounding Battle in Win over Golden Eagles on Saturday

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State held Minnesota Crookston to shoot just 33 percent from the field as the Wolves cruised to an 85-54 win over Minnesota Crookston in NSIC women's basketball action on Saturday in Wachs Arena.
 
Minnesota Crookston falls to 9-15 (6-12 NSIC).
 
The Wolves, who were looking to avenge their earlier season loss to the Golden Eagles, would get off to a blazing start, scoring the games' first seven points for a 7-0 lead. Rayna Klejeski (Fr., F, Barnum, Minn.) would halt the quick start with a layup.
 
NSU would eventually take an 18-5 lead, but Nicole Hernandez (R-Jr., F, Oak Creek, Wis.) would cut into the deficit with a layup in the paint.
 
Olivia Walsh (Fr., F, Austin, Minn.) would score on back-to-back possessions to get the Golden Eagle deficit back within single digits at nine.
 
The Wolves would finish the first quarter strong and take a 14 point lead heading into the second quarter.
 
Minnesota Crookston would score just eight points in the second frame and head into the halftime break down by 23 at 46-23.
 
In the third quarter, the Wolves would extend their lead to 56-26, but Emma Miller (So., G, Albertville, Minn.) would get on the board with a jumper.
 
Hope Dudycha (R-Fr., G, Austin, Minn.) would finish a tough layup in the paint with 40 seconds left in the third quarter to make it a 68-40 game in favor of the Wolves heading into the final quarter.
 
In the fourth stanza, NSU would outscore the Golden Eagles 17-14 and cruise to the 85-54 victory over the Golden Eagles, who have lost nine in a row.
 
Walsh led the way with 12 points on 5-8 shooting from the field. Hernandez, who came off the bench, added 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Miller and Klejeski added nine and seven respectively. Ainsley McLain (Fr., G, Grafton, N.D.) continues to play well off the bench, adding eight points on 3-4 shooting from the field.
 
Northern State outrebounded the Golden Eagles 55-34 in the game.
 
What's Next
The Golden Eagles will wrap-up their home schedule next weekend, starting with Augustana on Friday. Tip-off with the Vikings is set for 5:30 P.M., from Crookston.
