Crookston, Minn. - Minnesota Crookston Hockey picked up a sweep against the Saint John's University Johnnies in their last matchup of 2024. Wyatt Olsonowski (Jr., G, Hallock, Minn.) started in goal for the Golden Eagles. Ben Monsivas tended the goal for the Johnnies.

The Golden Eagles lit up the scoreboard early when Tyler Lorenz (Fr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) found the back of the net in the 4th minute of the first period off an assist from Ben Hines (So., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Dalston Kelly (So., F, Grafton, N.D.). Finding some momentum, Minnesota Crookston nicked 5 more goals in the next 12 minutes to widen their lead to 6-0, and chased Monsivas from the net, after the first period. Jackson Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) recorded his second goal of the weekend, assisted by Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) and Tristan Morneault (Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) in the 6th minute of the game. Less than 2 minutes later, Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, Minn.) found the net on a power play goal from Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) and Tyler Lorenz. In the 11th minute, Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) buried the puck past Nelson while both teams had a man in the box. Dodds scored with help from Aiden Morelli (Jr., F, Minot, N.D.) and Dylan Neubauer (Sr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.). Jackson Dodds scored his second goal of the game on a power play in the 15th minute, after he rebounded a shot from Fox Dodds, Alexander Bailey recorded his second assist of the game. Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) rounded out the first period with an unassisted goal in the 16th minute.

Minnesota Crookston crashed the net immediately after the puck dropped in the second period, scoring three goals in a 1 minute and 12 second span. Alexander Bailey picked up his first goal of the weekend in just the first minute of the period, Fox Dodds and Dylan Neubauer were credited with the assists. Mason Romfo recorded an unassisted goal less than 30 seconds later. In the next minute, Ben Hines (So., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) collected his second goal of the weekend with help from Dylan Neubauer and Alexander Bailey, both racking up 3 assists at this point in the game. After going scoreless for a 10 minute stretch, Dylan Neubauer went unassisted in the 17th minute to put the Golden Eagles in double digits and widen the lead against the Johnnies to 10-0. Steven Musokranov (So., D, Plymouth, Minn.) tucked one behind Nelson in the 14th minute to record his first collegiate goal with Minnesota Crookston, with the pair of assists from Fox Dodds and Mason Romfo. With 3 minutes left to go in the period, Fox Dodds scored his fifth goal of the weekend with assists from Anthony Foster and Dylan Neubauer. Seconds later Mason Romfo sealed the deal with his third goal of the game coming from an assist from Fox Dodds and Steven Musokranov.

The Johnnies played their best defensive period of the weekend in the final period of the game, as the Golden Eagles went scoreless. Nelson saved all 12 Golden Eagle shots on goal in the third period, recording 44 total saves in all three periods.

Minnesota Crookston recorded 57 shots on goal in the game. Wyatt Olsonowski picked up a shutout, saving all 15 shots on goal to give the Golden Eagles a clean slate. With the win, the Golden Eagles tied their program record, set just 24 hours prior, as they swept the Johnnies with a pair of 13-0 results at home this weekend.
