Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are now 10-4-0 on the season as they get set for their final two games of the first half. This weekend, they will welcome the Saint John's Johnnies to town. The Johnnies have not had the start to the season they had hoped for, with a 2-8-0 start in their first 10 games. As for the Golden Eagles, they come in fresh off of a series with North Dakota State University, a series that was split between the teams.
The Golden Eagles Player to Watch this weekend is Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) who is fresh off of a four point weekend. Dodds, now in his second year at the University of Minnesota Crookston, has been a force since joining the club. Dodds is currently third in Golden Eagles scoring for both this season, with 19 total points, and since the start of the 2023-2024 season with 62 points in 45 games. Dodds is also third in goals for the team this season with 8, and tied for third in assists on the team with 11. He is looking to continue his stellar start to the season against the Johnnies.
The Golden Eagles are hoping to bounce back this weekend as they are fresh off of a heartbreaking loss in which they were outscored 5-2 in the final 20 minutes of regulation. Against the Johnnies, they will hope to maintain any lead that they earn. It will be an important week for the team as they head for a month-long break. But this weekend will be especially important for the team to regroup into that strong defensive group we all know them to be.
