Where the Golden Eagles Stand at Semester Break

Hockey | 12/13/2024 2:45:00 PM

Crookston, Minn. - Fall semester has come and gone and the Golden Eagles are heading to break fresh off of a 26 goal weekend and back to back shutouts. This marks the first time in program history that the Golden Eagles have shut out an opponent in a series. It also goes down as the highest scoring weekend in Golden Eagles history.

As for the regular season to this point, the Golden Eagles currently sit at 12-4-0 with just eight games remaining before the WCCHA Tournament. They have scored 97 goals through the first 16 games, averaging just over six goals per game. They have allowed 37 goals this season, averaging 2.31 goals against per game this season. In terms of the standings, the Golden Eagles currently sit second in the WCCHA Northwest and are tied for second in the WCCHA conference standings.

When it comes to rankings, the Golden Eagles are currently fourth in the KRACH rankings for the WCCHA, and sit at 14th in the Central Region ACHA Rankings. The Golden Eagles currently qualify for spots in both the WCCHA Tournament and the Regional Tournament. But, with a lot of season left, the Golden Eagles are hoping to rank higher by the time those tournaments roll around.

One major key for the Golden Eagles having a month off is that it gives them a chance to get healthy. With a few key players missing games and others dealing with bumps and bruises, the Golden Eagles will feel refreshed when they return for their January 11th game against Dakota College at Bottineau.

The Golden Eagles have 20 players that have registered a point this season, which is closing in on their single season record of 22 which was set by the 2023-2024 team. The top five point scorers on the team are: Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) with 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points, Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) with 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points, Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) with six goals and 20 assists for 26 points, Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) with three goals and 22 assists for 25 points, and Jackson Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) with 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points. In net, Wyatt Olsonawski (Jr., G, Hallock, Minn.) leads the way with a 6-1-0 record, a 1.95 goals against average, and a .922 save percentage. Adam Goody (So., G, Airdrie, Alberta) has a 5-3-0 record, a 2.89 goals against average, and a .897 save percentage. Tyler Swanson (Fr., G, Moorhead, Minn.) comes in with a 1-0-0 record, a 0.00 goals against average, and a 1.000 save percentage.
