Golden Eagle volleyball
will kick off their first road trip of the season this Tuesday for their second and final match with No. 5 St. Cloud State. The Golden Eagles will head to Halenbeck Hall on Tuesday and then be back on the road on Friday and Saturday at UMary and Minot State. It'll be a busy stretch for the maroon and gold with three road matches this week and three home matches next week.

• NEEDED THAT ONE. It wasn't going to be easy, but the Golden Eagles needed a win on the road at Bemidji State last Thursday. They got that W. The Golden Eagles beat the Beavers in four sets and won the final set, 25-13, which is tied for their largest set win of the season, having done so two other times this year. The Golden Eagles have won in Bemidji six of the last eight times they have played there, dating back to 2012. The Golden Eagles will look to carry that road momentum this weekend.

· MUTH WANTED IT MORE. Carizma Muth might have had her best all-around match last Thursday night in the win over the Beavers. The redshirt freshman finished with 13 kills, 13 digs (her fourth career double-double) and also added a career best five service aces, including three in the third set. Muth leads the team in total attacks and is third in total kills. It's been a good year for the Wisconsin native.

·   NO WORRIES, I'M IN THE BACK.  When Kailee Waasdorp collected eight digs in the loss to CSU Pueblo back on Sept. 6, it was an anomaly. It was an anomaly in the fact that Waasdorp hasn't seen a number less than 10 next to the digs stat since that match. In 13 matches since that point, the sophomore had 251 digs, good for 19.3 digs per match and has five matches of those 13 with more than 20 digs. Waasdorp is fifth in the Northern Sun in digs per set and 11th in total digs. Waasdorp is a massive reason why the Golden Eagles are 32nd in the nation in digs per set.

·   STAY READY. This week and next week will be trying on the Golden Eagles. Having six matches in 14 days and three in four days next week will be a tough thing for the young Golden Eagles to navigate. The Golden Eagles will play on the road on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday this week and then Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, all at home next week. It's a tough schedule, but it's also a chance for the Golden Eagles to rack up some wins in the Northern Sun.

ST. CLOUD STATE. The Huskies are one of the best teams in the nation and they are proving that in NSIC play, as they sit at 10-0 coming into Tuesday's match with the Golden Eagles. SCSU has lost just three sets in Northern Sun play and have won 12 in a row.

TOUGH TO STOP. Senior Kenzie Foley is the reigning AVCA DII Player of the Year and she might well be named the National Player of the Year again this season. The Sergeant Bluff, Iowa native is sixth in the nation in kills with 321, fifth in kills and points per set and leads the NSIC in all three of those categories. Foley has three matches this season with more than 25 kills, including 34 earlier this month against Wayne State College. Foley is well on her way to her fourth All-American Team mention this year.

OFFENSIVE JUGGERNAUT. With Foley leading the charge, the Huskies have an offense that could lead them to their first National title. The Huskies rank in the top-10 nationally in kills per set (3rd), hitting percentage (7th) and assists per set (9th). They also rank the top-50 in total kills and opponent hitting percentage. Needless to say, the Huskies are a fantastic volleyball team.

HOME COOKIN'. The Huskies are really good anywhere, but they are especially good in the friendly confines of Halenbeck Hall. Since 2021, the Huskies have lost just six matches at home and are 42-6 in the three-and-a-half seasons since then, including a perfect 6-0 record this season. The Huskies will look to continue their home cooking on Tuesday against the maroon and gold.
