Crookston, Minn. - After a strong opening weekend filled with goals, the Golden Eagles are road bound as they begin a four week road trip. The team will head out on the road feeling confident after sweeping Jamestown with a combined score of 13-6.
Last time the University of Minnesota Crookston met up with the University of North Dakota, the Golden Eagles were dominant in their winning efforts, winning 6-2 and 11-2. They will look to recapture that same magic once again this year. North Dakota has yet to play a game this season, so the Golden Eagles will be their first test.
These games will be the 10th and 11th all-time matchups between the two clubs, with the Golden Eagles leading the series with a record of 8-0-1. The Golden Eagles have scored 60 goals in this series, averaging 6.67 per game.
The player to watch in this week's matchup is none other than Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) after a rockstar opening weekend where he picked up five goals and one assist, scoring a hat trick in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Jimmies. Romfo is coming to the Golden Eagles from the Langdon Blades of the NDAHA and looks to be a star in the making.
The Golden Eagles will hit the ice on Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m. in Grand Forks.
