Crookston, Minn. - The hockey season is now underway as the Golden Eagles faceoff against the Jimmies. This is the University of Minnesota Crookston's first game of the season, while the University of Jamestown is playing their sixth contest. For the Golden Eagles, Adam Goody (So., G, Airdrie, Alberta) would be in the net. Goody finished last year with a 12-2-1 record, a 2.16 goals against average, and a .922 save percentage. Xavier Baker would start for the Jimmies.

It only took a few short minutes for Jackson Fuller (Sr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) to open the scoring as he was assisted by new Golden Eagle Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) for his first career point. It would take a bit of time, but Jamestown would even the score with a shorthanded goal scored by Tyler Ralph. Just one minute later, Jackson Dodds (Sr., F, Watford City, N.D.) would reclaim the lead with assists from Tyler Lorenz (Fr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) and Mason Romfo. The period would come to an end with the score standing at 2-1 Golden Eagles.

The second period would show a rise in intensity. Both teams began to throw heavier hits, more post whistle scrums, and plenty of quality shots. 14:20 into the second, Mason Romfo would break through on a two on one for his first career goal. Romfo would be the lone goal scorer of the second period, giving him a three point night in his debut with 20 minutes left to play.

The third period would start out with the Golden Eagles leading in shots 41-18. Just over 10 minutes into the final frame, Fox Dodds (Sr., F, Watford City, N.D.) would score his first of the new season, with Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) and Dylan Neubauer (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) adding the assists. With just six minutes remaining, Adam Goody would make an incredible save stretching out his leg to stop a cross-crease chance. Just a few minutes later, Jamestown would cut the lead back to two with a goal from James Poole.

The Golden Eagles would close out with a great performance 62-29. They will return to action tomorrow afternoon against the Jimmies at 2 p.m.
