Grand Forks, N.D. – Visiting MSUM defeated Minnesota Crookston on Saturday afternoon, 6-1, at the Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 7-7 on the season.
In doubles, MSUM took the point, winning two out of the possible three doubles. For the Golden Eagles, the duo of
Madeleine Schneider (Jr., Gartringen, Germany) and
Sarah Velasquez (Sr., Chino, Calif.) defeated the Dragons duo of Madison Bell and Tiannan Gu, 6-4.
Tasha Achermann (Sr., Motley, Minn.) and
Michelle Swyter (Sr., Perham, Minn.) lost 6-3 in doubles play.
Schneider was able to win her match in an awesome match against Shaelyn Johnson, 7-5 and 6-2. Velasquez went to the third and deciding game in her match against Claire Nemmers, losing 4-6 and 5-10 and won 6-4.
Ashley Chomyn (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) lost 6-0 and 7-6.
Minnesota Crookston will celebrate senior day tomorrow at 9:30 A.M., against the University of Mary. The seniors will be honored following the match tomorrow.
