Grand Forks, N.D. – Minnesota Crookston Tennis was upended 6-1 on Friday afternoon at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D., by the visiting Sioux Falls Cougars.
The Golden Eagles fall to 7-5 on the season.
In doubles, the Cougars were able to win that portion. The duo of
Blaike Zander (So., Bismarck, N.D.) and
Kavya Singh (So., Agra, India) fell 6-1 in the first duo.
Madeleine Schneider (Jr., Cartringen, Germany) and
Sarah Velasquez (Sr., Chino, Calif.) won their doubles match, 6-3. The junior from Germany is now 11-1 on the season.
In singles, the only win for the Golden Eagles went to the red hot Schneider, who dominated Talia Jones, allowing her to win just one set.
Velasquez won 6-3 and fell 6-1 and 10-1 to her Cougar opponent.
Ashley Chomyn (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) fought hard, but fell to Emma Dangel, 6-4 and 6-1.

The Golden Eagles will take on another South Dakota school, Augustana on Sunday at 9 A.M., from the Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks. The Vikings are currently atop of the NSIC.
