CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team returns to NSIC action Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19. The Golden Eagles are looking to continue their historic start to the season. UMN Crookston faces the University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday at 3:30 p.m., and St. Cloud State University Sunday at 9 a.m.
The Golden Eagles have a 7-2 (2-1 NSIC) mark, their best in program history. Minnesota Duluth comes into the weekend with a 5-2 (2-1 NSIC) record. St. Cloud State enters the weekend with a 4-4 (0-3 NSIC) record.
Minnesota Crookston is propelled by two-time NSIC Player of the Week
Madeleine Schneider (So., Gartringen, Germany), who is 8-1 at No. 1 singles.
Blaike Zander (So., Bismarck, N.D.) is 4-5 at the No. 2 singles spot.
Kavya Singh (So., Agra, India) is 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.
Michelle Swyter (Sr., Perham, Minn.) comes in with a 6-2 mark at the No. 4 slot.
Sarah Velasquez (Sr., Chino, Calif.) is 7-1 at No. 5 singles.
Ashley Chomyn (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) has a 6-2 mark.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Singh and Zander is 6-2. The No. 2 pair of Schneider and Velasquez is 5-3. The No. 3 pair of
Tasha Achermann (Sr., Motley, Minn.) and
Kaydance Hinn (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) is 3-2.
Minnesota Duluth is guided by Shay Callaway at No. 1 singles, with a 5-2 mark. Megan Muller is 4-2 at No. 2 singles. Muller and Callaway are 3-2 at No. 1 singles.
St. Cloud's Oriana Grott has picked up NSIC Player of the Week nods this season. Johana Brower is on the six-match winning streak.
