Box Score WINONA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Winona State University Saturday, February 18 at the Winona Tennis Center.
Madeleine Schneider (Jr., Gartringen, Germany) picked up her sixth singles win of the season to set the school record for No. 1 singles wins.
The Golden Eagles continue their historic start as they sit at 4-2 on the season. The Warriors improved to 3-0 with the win.
Schneider came from behind to beat Beth Murman, 3-6, 7-6, 10-6. At No. 2 singles, Winona State's Rachel Kelly defeated
Blaike Zander (So., Mandan, N.D.), 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 3 singles spot,
Kavya Singh (So., Agra, India) fell 6-2, 6-4 to Sara Anderson. At the No. 4 spot,
Michelle Swyter (Sr., Perham, Minn.) fell in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 5-10 to Maddie Moe. At No. 5 singles,
Sarah Velasquez (Sr., Chino, Calif.) fell 6-3, 6-2 to Ally Barge. At No. 6 singles,
Ashley Chomyn (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Miranda Daulong.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Zander and Singh was defeated 6-3 by Murman and Anderson. At the No. 2 slot, Kelly and Ally Burger defeated Schneider and Velasquez, 6-1. At No. 3 doubles, Swyter and
Tasha Achermann (Sr., Motley, Minn.) fell 6-1 to Moe and Daulong.
Minnesota Crookston is set to face Upper Iowa University Sunday, February 19 at 1:30 p.m. in Winona, Minn.
