ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team continued their historic start with a 7-0 win over Crown College Friday, February 17 in St. Louis Park, Minn. The Golden Eagles improved to 4-1 with Friday's win. The Golden Eagles now match their win total from the 2014 season.
In doubles,
Madeleine Schneider (Jr., Gartringen, Germany) and
Sarah Velasquez (Sr., Chino, Calif.) moved to No. 1 doubles and extended their record to 4-1 with a 6-1 victory over Annie Doyle and Jaidence Medina. At the No. 2 slot,
Kaydance Hinn (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) and
Blaike Zander (So., Mandan, N.D.) defeated Lauren Blees and Cassie Young, 6-0. At the No. 3 doubles spot,
Tasha Achermann (Sr., Motley, Minn.) and
Michelle Swyter (Sr., Perham, Minn.) defeated Alora Devries and Amanda Helser, 6-0.
In singles, Schneider moved to an unblemished 5-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Doyle. At No. 2 singles, Zander defeated Medina, 6-0, 6-0, to improve to 2-3. At the No. 3 spot,
Kavya Singh (So,, Agra, India) defeated Blees, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 4 singles, Swyter picked up the 6-0, 6-0 victory over Young. At the No. 5 spot, Velasquez defeated Devries, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 6 singles,
Ashley Chomyn (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) won 6-0, 6-0 over Helser.
