Rebounding Differential Looms Large as Dragons Defeat Golden Eagles on Friday Night

Crookston, Minn. – MSU Moorhead used a big spurt at the start of the fourth quarter, to knock off the Minnesota Crookston women by 10, 75-65.

The win for the Dragons now muddies up the NSIC North, as there are three teams tied for fourth in the NSIC, including the Dragons, Golden Eagles and the Golden Eagles' opponent for tomorrow, Northern State.

Alex Page (So., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) would get the Golden Eagles off to a fantastic start, burying one of her four first half three's to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead.

Much like the men's game, the game would be back-and-forth, but the Dragons would pull away at the end of the first quarter, as they would score seven of the final nine points, taking a five-point lead after the first ten minutes.

The Golden Eagles would come out firing in the second quarter. Page would bury another three, Janie Tormanen (Fr., F, Menahga, Minn.) and Erika Lane (So., G, Breezy Point, Minn.) would finish tough layups and Page would cash in another three for a 10-0 run, forcing a Dragons timeout.

Page would bury another three at the end of the half, giving the Golden Eagles a two point lead heading into the halftime break.

It would be a tough start for the Golden Eagles in the third quarter, as they would see their two point halftime lead eventually turn into a six point deficit.

Lane and Tormanen would eventually help the Golden Eagles cut the lead to one, at 44-43.

An Emma Miller (Fr., G, Albertville, Minn.) three at the end of the quarter would cut the Dragons lead to just two at 48-46.

The fourth quarter would see the Golden Eagles get outscored by eight, 27-19, falling by the ten point deficit.

Bren Fox (R-Sr., F, Norwood Young America, Minn.) would finish with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Miller would end up with 16 points and six assists. Page and Lane each poured in 12.

The Dragons would win the rebounding battle by 12 in the game.

It's a giant game tomorrow evening. Minnesota Crookston will host senior day and the Northern State Wolves, for a playoff-impacting game. Tip-off with the Wolves is set for 5:30 PM.
