CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston hockey team earned a sweep over the University of Minnesota with an overtime goal by Fox Dodds (Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) off a great pass from captain Jackson Fuller (Jr., F, Bloomington, Minn.). The match up was very reminiscent of last night, where the Golden Eagles also defeated the Golden Gophers with an overtime goal. Both teams went back and forth with goals and kept each other on their toes. The competition rounded out Minnesota Crookston's homecoming weekend.

The Golden Eagles improved 2-2 (2-2 WCCHA) with today's win. With the victory, Minnesota Crookston also widened the gap to a 5-3 edge in this maroon and gold series.

University of Minnesota scored first at the 2:24 mark of the first period off of a power play with a Sam Margel goal.

Tyler Zahradka (Sr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) began the alternating score pattern from the Golden Eagles and Golden Gophers, when he scored just over a minute later. Dodds and Anthony Foster (Fr., F, Warroad, Minn.) tallied an assist.

In the seventh minute, the Golden Gophers took the lead 2-1. Nathan Ayotte (Fr., F, Morris, Manitoba) clutched a goal in the last 16 seconds of the period to tie it all up. Jake Huska (Sr., D, Preeceville, Saskatchewan) and Logan Syrup (Jr., F, Park River, N.D.)) picked up the assists.

In the second period, Huska scored off a power play to give Minnesota Crookston the edge. The assist would come from Syrup.

The University of Minnesota came back and tied the game in the third period, when TJ Kouba scored, unassisted.

Zahradka earned his second goal of the night at the 7:04 mark of the third period, which came from Foster and Fuller assists.

The Golden Gophers were kept alive by Tyler Bishop, who scored unassisted when the Gophers were 3v5 with two players in the penalty box.

Dodds had the crowd on their feet when he secured the Minnesota Crookston victory with a goal in the first minute of overtime. Fuller picked up his second assist of the day.

The Golden Eagles had some notable contributors to the scoreboard. Zahradka racked up two goals. Huska and Dodds each collected a goal and an assist. Foster, Syrup, and Fuller all added two assists to their records.

Adam Goody (Fr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) kept the Golden Eagles alive and ended the game with 30 saves.

Minnesota Crookston ended their homecoming weekend with the sweep over the Gophers. The Golden Eagles will face North Dakota State University in their next match up on Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. in Fargo, N.D., at the West Fargo Sports Arena.
