3/11/2022 10:24:00 AM

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team will head to Florida for their Spring Break trip. The Golden Eagles are slated to play Stevenson University Monday, March 14 and University of Scranton Tuesday, March 15. Times are currently not set for the matches. They will be played in Orlando, Fla., and are scheduled for the USTA National Campus.

The Golden Eagles enter the season with a 0-7 mark, but the record isn't indicative of the growth of the program. UMN Crookston has been very competitive in both singles and doubles this season under Head Coach Josh Lunak, who is in his first season back as coach after previously serving in the role from 2007-13.

Minnesota Crookston has been guided by Madeleine Schneider (So., Gartringen, Germany), who is 3-4 at No. 1 singles. Schneider is off to the best start at No. 1 singles since Catherine Brown in 2016. At No. 4 singles, Tasha Achermann (So., Motley, Minn.) is 1-6 on the season. Ashley Chomyn (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) comes in with a 2-0 mark at No. 6 singles this season.

In doubles, the No. 3 pair of Michelle Swyter (Jr., Perham, Minn.) and Kaydance Hinn (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) has a 3-2 mark.

The Golden Eagles best showing on the season was a 5-2 loss to Minnesota Duluth February 5, 2022. To put in context though, the Golden Eagles have taken at least one point in five matches this season. UMN Crookston had not picked up a single point in a match since 2019.
