Minnesota Crookston Men's Basketball Picks Up 73-54 Exhibition Win Over Hamline

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball team opened up the 2021-22 season with a 73-54 exhibition victory over Hamline University Saturday, October 30 at Gary Senske Court at Lysaker Gymnasium.

Minnesota Crookston moves to 1-0 on the exhibition season.

The Golden Eagles were guided by Leonard Dixon (R-Jr., G/F, Damascus, Ore.) led the team with a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Zach Westphal (Sr., G, West Fargo, N.D.) came off the bench for 14 points on 5-of-5 from the field. Uzo Dibiamaka (R-So., Adelaide, South Australia) added 11 points and three assists. Brian Sitzmann (R-Sr., G, Savage, Minn.) added eight points. On the glass, Nathaniel Powell (R-So., F/C, Nottingham, England) had eight rebounds, while Zen Goodridge (R-Jr., F/C, Orlando, Fla.) added seven rebounds.

Minnesota Crookston was 25-of-61 from the field for 41.0 percent. The Golden Eagles were 9-of-25 from beyond the arc for 36.0 percent. UMN Crookston went 14-of-16 from the charity stripe for 87.5 percent.

Hamline shot 22-of-61 for 36.1 percent from the field. The Pipers were 6-of-27 from three-point range for 22.2 percent. They were just 4-of-12 from the foul line for 33.3 percent.

UMN Crookston out-rebounded Hamline 46-34. The Golden Eagles had 11 offensive rebounds.

Hamline was guided by Tait Nelson, who had 14 points on 7-of-15 from the field. Cooper Berg had 14 points, while Sam Bradley had two points. Hamline scored just two points off of their bench.

The Golden Eagles will continue their exhibition slate when they play Mayville State University Thursday, November 4 at 6 p.m.
