Minnesota Crookston Men's Basketball Drops Exhibition to North Dakota State

Fargo, N.D. -- Minnesota Crookston trailed by 12 at the half in their first and only exhibition on the road at North Dakota State, but ultimately fell to NDSU, 90-59 on Monday night.

Minnesota Crookston will open up the regular season a week from today at home against St. Cloud State.

NDSU would strike first for a 2-0 lead, but Alijah Washington (5th, G, San Jose, Calif.) would tie the game up at two with the first of his team-high 13.

Quincy Everson (So., G, Goodyear, Ariz.) would give the Golden Eagles the lead at 6-4.

NDSU would go on a 10-0 run for a 14-6 lead, but Brady Westphal (So., G, West Fargo, N.D.) would bury a three to cut the lead to five.

Later, Westphal would cash in on another three and J.D. Roberts (So., Parkville, Mo.) would finish a bucket to cut the Bison lead to just two at 16-14.

NDSU would stretch the lead to double-figures, but Brayden Carlson (So., C, Woodbury, Minn.) would make a layup to cut the deficit back to single digits.

Spencer Swenson (So., F, Sauk Rapids, Minn.) would finish another layup to cut the lead to six and Westphal would cash in another three to make it 29-24, late in the first half.

NDSU led by 12 at the break.

The Golden Eagles would get back within eight early in the half after a Roberts layup.

From there, NDSU would pull away for the win. The Bison improve to 1-0 on the season, while the game counts as an exhibition for the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles had three in double-figures, led by Washington's 13, Swenson had 11 off the bench and Everson finished with 10.

Minnesota Crookston opens the regular season next week against NSIC foe St. Cloud State for a non-conference game.
