Hola Costa Rica!: Minnesota Crookston Volleyball in Costa Rica, Day 4

(Blog by Deaira Gresham and Alyssa Thomas)
Hola from La Fortuna!

We started our day with breakfast at Hotel Magic Mountain. Today we had many options as the hotel had a buffet for breakfast. They had everything from Costa Rica's traditional breakfast of rice and beans with a type of meat, to pancakes and omelets.

After eating a delicious breakfast, we boarded the bus for a three-hour bus ride to Punta Leona! On the way to Punta Leona, we stopped at Tarcoles River which is home to the famous "Crocodile Bridge." This Costa Rican attraction is a bridge where crocodiles come to get food from owners of surrounding shops. Since the shop owners feed them, they make the bridge their home and attract many tourist. Our next stop after the bridge was to our resort, Hotel Punta Leona.

When we arrived at the resort, we sat down for lunch at El Leon Marino where we had five options to choose from: Casado, which is a traditional Costa Rican meal of chicken, rice, bean, plantains, and coleslaw, pescado con arroz (fish with rice), pollo con arroz (chicken with rice), hamburguesa con papas fritas (hamburger with fries) and chicken fingers. After a wonderful meal, it was time to enjoy the sun!

Our time in the sun was spent in a number of different ways. Some of the team chose to go to the beach, while others went to other various places like the butterfly garden and the pool.

As a team we ate dinner at Carabelas which is a restaurant at our resort. For dinner we had another buffet style meal, with an Asian theme. There were plenty of options to satisfy our hunger, with things like sushi, fried rice, chicken, Chinese tacos as well as more. After the main meal was finished, many of us chose to have dessert. There were many options including flan and dessert sushi, but some of the favorites were a vanilla cupcake and ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry).
