DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 7-0 to St. Cloud State University at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center in Duluth, Minn.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-3 (0-2 NSIC) with Sunday's loss to the Huskies. St. Cloud State improves to 1-2 with the victory over Minnesota Crookston.
The Golden Eagles were led at No. 1 doubles by
Reanne Erickson (Sr., Fargo, N.D.) and
Ashley Smith (Fr., Staples, Minn.), who took a game off Jill Kedrowski and Fernanda Morais Quintino dos Santos. Smith and Erickson ultimately fell 6-1. At the No. 2 spot,
Hanna Ruckheim (Jr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and
Diane Cilengi (Jr., Johannesburg, South Africa) fell 6-0 to Melissa Jane Nierenhausen and Samantha Fitzpatrick. At No. 3 doubles,
Hannah Zhao (Sr., Guangzhou, China) and
Karli Renney (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) were defeated 6-0 by Abby Scheck and Sommer Kopff.
In singles, Erickson was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Quintino dos Santos. At the No. 2 slot, Smith fell 6-0, 6-0 to Fitzpatrick. At No. 3 singles, Ann Marie White upended Ruckheim, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 4 slot, Olivia Fredrickson defeated Cilengi, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, Zhao was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Katherine Muntifering. At the No. 6 spot, Claire Olson upended Renney 6-0, 6-0.
Minnesota Crookston returns to action Feb. 16 at University of Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. at the Gillett Wellness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
