FARGO, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team returned to action Sat., March 24 for the first time since March 4 as they fell 9-0 to University of Mary at Courts Plus Community Fitness in Fargo, N.D. The Golden Eagles were able to compete and win several games on the day, but ultimately came up short in the loss to the Marauders.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-10 on the season with Saturday's loss. U-Mary improves to 5-8 on the campaign.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair of
Whitney Erickson (Sr., Spring Valley, Minn.) and
Reanne Erickson (Jr., Frgo, N.D.) took a game from Tasha Dembo and Eileen Leong, but fell 8-1. At No. 2 doubles,
Hanna Ruckheim (So., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and
Adrianna Tiede (So., LeCenter, Minn.) were upended 8-0 by Lucia Bolibruch and Kelsey Lajom. At the No. 3 spot, Karli Renney (Fr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Hannah Zhao (Jr., Guangzhou, China) fell 8-0 to Emily Bichler and Lisa Anderson. The match was the season debut for Zhao.
In singles,
Whitney Erickson took a game in the first set from Dembo, but was dropped 6-1, 6-0 at the No.1 spot. At No. 2 singles,
Reanne Erickson picked up a game victory in set one, but was ultimately upended 6-1, 6-0 by Bolibruch. Tiede did likewise in the first set, but fell 6-1, 6-0 to Lajom. At the No. 4 slot, Ruckheim fell 6-0, 6-0 to Leong. At the No 5 spot, Zhao's debut ended with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Cristina Bremar. At No. 6 singles, Renney was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Bichler.
