SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 9-0 to University of Sioux Falls Sun., Feb. 25 at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-6 with the loss. Sioux Falls improves to 7-1 on the 2018 season.
Minnesota Crookston competed well at No. 1 doubles as
Whitney Erickson (Sr., Spring Valley, Minn.) and
Reanne Erickson (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) won three points but ultimately fell 8-3 to Chloe Jefferies and Megan Quandt. At the No. 2 slot,
Hanna Ruckheim (So., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and
Adrianna Tiede (So., LeCenter, Minn.) were upended 8-1 by Lexi Miller and Joelle Thorfinnson. At No. 3 doubles,
Tori Koch (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) and Karli Renney (Fr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) were defeated 8-0 by Rachel Klatt and Cortney McCans.
In singles, Jefferies picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over
Whitney Erickson. At the No. 2 spot, Quandy upended
Reanne Erickson, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Miller defeated Tiede, 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 4 spot, Ruckheim fell 6-1, 6-0 to Thorfinnson. McCans earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Koch at No. 5 singles, while Klatt picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Renney.
Minnesota Crookston will take on University of Minnesota Duluth Thurs., March 1 at 11 a.m. at Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
