BEMIDJI, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 9-0 to St. Cloud State University Sat., Feb. 18 at Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-4 with Saturday's loss to the Huskies. St. Cloud State has a 1-5 mark on the 2018 season.
In doubles, the No. 1 duo of
Whitney Erickson (Sr., Spring Valley, Minn.) and
Reanne Erickson (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) fell 8-1 to Melissa Nierenhausen and Ann Marie White. At the No. 2 slot,
Adrianna Tiede (So., LeCenter, Minn.) and
Hanna Ruckheim (So., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) put up a great fight as they fell 8-4 to Samantha Fitzpatrick and Emma Hanegraf. At No. 3 doubles,
Tori Koch (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) and Karli Renney (Fr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) fell 8-0 to Austin Gorecki and Sommer Kopff.
In singles, Erickson was able to take three games on the day, but she ultimately fell 6-2, 6-1 to Alexie Portz at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 singles, Fernanda Morais Quintino Dos Santos upended
Reanne Erickson, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 3 slot, Ruckheim took a game but was defeated 6-0, 6-1 to itzpatrick. At the No. 4 spot, Tiede took two games in the first set but was dropped 6-2, 6-0 by Abby Scheck. At the No. 5 slot, Koch had a strong match as she lost just 6-1, 6-3 to Kopff. Gorecki rounded it out for the Huskies by winning 6-0, 6-0 over Renney.
The Golden Eagles will return to action Sat., Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D.
