The Golden Eagles will look to build on their best start since the 2007-08 season as they currently boast a 3-0 mark. Minnesota Crookston has major wins over Division II opposition from Northwest Missouri State University and University of Nebraska Kearney. In addition, they picked up a win over Valley City State University Tuesday.
Minnesota Crookston has had a tremendously successful starting five as they are averaging 69.0 points per game entering Saturday's tilt. The Golden Eagles are paced by the post play of
Isieoma Odor (R-Sr., F/C, Bloomington, Minn.), who is averaging a double-double of 17.3 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. The NSIC Player of the Week is shooting 16-of-19 from the charity stripe for 84.2 percent.
In addition, freshman
Kylie Post (G, Corcoran, Minn.) is off to one of the best starts a freshman has even posted, as she has 16.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, to go with 2.7 assists per tilt.
Caitlin Michaelis (Sr., G, Marshfield, Wis.) has also made a major impact with 15.0 points and 3.3 assists per game.
Abby Guidinger (So., G/F, Waukesha, Wis.) enters Saturday notching 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Paige Weakley (Jr., G/F, Kearney, Mo.) rounded out the starting five by averaging 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Weakley is hitting a team-best 54.5 percent from behind the three-point line.
Off the bench, Minnesota Crookston has been paced by
Kylea Praska (Fr., G, Thief River Falls, Minn.) with 3.0 points per game, while
Bren Fox (Fr., F/C, Norwood Young America, Minn.) is tallying 3.3 rebounds per game.
The Golden Eagles are averaging 76.3 points per game, while allowing just 64.7 points per tilt. Mayville State comes into the weekend with a 2-2 record. The Comets came close to upsetting Bemidji State in exhibition play Tuesday, just barely falling 78-71 at the hands of the Beavers.
Mayville State is paced by senior guard Joelle Ertl, who is averaging 14.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, while Claire Blascziek is notching 10.5 points per game. Kylee Heurung leads the Comets in the post with 11.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
The Comets relied on the three against Bemidji State as 41 of their 69 attempts from the field came from beyond the arc. Mayville State was led by Blascziek with 14 points, including shooting 3-of-9 from beyond the arc. Ertl had 12 points, and was 3-of-13 from beyond the arc. Cyan Hale chipped in 12 points, while Nicole Buting had nine points. Taylor Shamp led the Comets on the glass with seven boards off the bench.
