Minnesota Crookston Hosts Oak Hills Christian in Non-Conference Tilt at Lysaker

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball team will open up their non-conference home slate Wed., Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. against Oak Hills Christian College out of Bemidji, Minn.

The meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Wolfpack marks the third-consecutive season that the two squads have met. Minnesota Crookston has had an average margin of 41.0 points per game. The Golden Eagles enter the week with a 1-1 mark on the season. Oak Hills Christian enters with a 0-6 record on the season. They are coming off a 103-63 loss to Bemidji State University Monday. The Wolfpack held within 10 points of the Beavers for the first 12 minutes Monday before Bemidji State took control down the stretch.

The Minnesota Crookston men's basketball team comes into Wednesday with a 1-1 mark after strong showings against Arkansas Tech and Arkansas Monticello. The Golden Eagles have shown much improved defense through the first two games as compared to the first two tilts last year.  In games against Arkansas Tech and Arkansas-Monticello last season, the Golden Eagles allowed an average of 92.5 points. In the first two contests this season, Minnesota Crookston is allowing just 66 points per game. The Golden Eagles have improved by 26.5 points per game through the first two tilts.
 
The Golden Eagles have been led by 2017-18 All-NSIC First Team selection Harrison Cleary, who is averaging 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Chase Knickerbocker has been a welcome sight back on the court after missing the last half of his junior season with an injury. Knickerbocker is tallying 16.0 points and 5.0  rebounds per game and shooting 50.0 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Sophomore guard Ben Juhl continues to come into his own as he is tallying 10.5 points per game. Josh Collins, who joined the team as a mid-year transfer from University of North Dakota last season, has continued to get acclimated to the Golden Eagles. He is notching 7.5 points and 7.0 rebounds, while NSIC Defensive Player of the Year Gable Smith is notching three blocks and three steals per game. 
The Golden Eagles have shot 41.7 percent from the field, 34.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 69.2 percent from the stripe. 
 
In addition to the starters, Malcolm Cohen (R-Jr., G/F, Detroit, Mich.) is tallying 6.5 points per game, while Chase Johnson (R-So., F/C, La Crosse, Wis.) is averaging 3.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per tilt.
 
Minnesota Crookston is being out-rebounded 41.5 to 35.5. The Golden Eagles are notching 69.5 points, while allowing 66.0 points per game.

Oak Hills Christian comes into Wednesday with a 0-6 mark on the season. Oak Hills has been propelled by Phillip Harris with 15.0 points per game. Elijah White is coming off the bench for 13.8 points per contest, while Derrick Wright is notching 10.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
 
In the post, the Wolfpack is led by Blake Dragt, who is tallying 7.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Roman Konsella has been key from beyond the arc, where he is hitting at a 37.5 percent clip. Konsella is tallying 6.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
 
Oak Hills is shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 27.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Wolfpack is hitting at a 56.8 percent clip from the stripe. Oak Hills has been out-rebounded on the season 52.7 to 26.3. The Wolfpack is being out-scored 106.5 to 62.2 on the 2018-19 season. They have averaged 14.0 assists per tilt.
