CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team will journey to the Peace Garden State this weekend as they take on University of Mary Fri., Oct. 26 at 6 p.m., and Minot State University Sat., Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. in a road of road matches.

The Golden Eagles are looking to get back on track as they look to stop a four-match losing streak. Minnesota Crookston has continued to improve on the season as they are hitting .142 with nine kills per set. The Golden Eagles had key set victories against defending National Champion Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State University. In addition, they had a dominant 3-0 win over Bemidji State Oct. 9.
Minnesota Crookston played two of their best matches of the season against Minot State and UMary earlier this season at Lysaker Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles swept UMary 3-0 and narrowly fell 3-2 to Minot State.
The Golden Eagles have been paced on the season by
Deaira Gresham (So., OH, Maplewood, Minn.), who is averaging 2.64 kills and 2.09 digs per set. In addition, freshman
Porsha Porath (OH, Windom, Minn.) continues to come into her own. Porath is averaging 2.35 kills per set in the last five matches with a .212 hitting percentage.
Sabrina Leuer (R-Jr., OH, Hamel, Minn.) is coming off two strong matches last weekend as she hit .312 with 3.00 kills per set.
At setter,
Sydney Kruisselbrink is averaging 7.25 assists per set. She has helped lead the team to 9.14 kills per set on the season with a .117 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Minnesota Crookston has been guided by
Ali Schueler (R-Jr., DS/Lib., Howards Grove, Wis.) with 3.56 digs per set. In addition,
Katie Lienemann (So., DS/Lib., Rosemount, Minn.) is averaging 2.40 digs per set, while
Lauren Ulibarri (Jr., DS, Flagstaff, Ariz.) is notching 2.29 digs per set. On the block, Minnesota Crookston looks to
Kaitlin Sikkink (R-Jr., MH, St. Charles, Minn.) for 0.55 blocks per set.
The Golden Eagle service game is propelled by Schueler and Lienemann, who each have 19 service aces on the 2018 season.
UMary Preview
The Marauders come into the weekend with a 3-21 (0-16 NSIC) mark as they have yet to pick up an NSIC win in 2018. They are in their first season under Korie Tetzlaff as head coach.
UMary is tallying 9.7 kills per set with a .097 hitting percentage. The Marauders are led by Morgan Schnabel's 2.49 kills per set, while Katja Berge is averaging 1.98 kills per set. At setter, Sydney Murphy is notching 6.61 assists per set, while Brittany Brusven is tallying 2.93 assists per set.
Defensively, the Marauders are averaging 13.7 digs per set paced by 3.09 digs per set from Natalia Cruz, while Geovana Almeida is tallying 2.77 digs per set. On the block, Bailey Harms paces UMary with 0.70 blocks per set.
Minot State Preview
The Beavers enter the weekend with an 11-15 (4-12 NSIC) record. Minot State comes into the weekend averaging 11.7 kills per set with a .159 hitting percentage. The Beavers will look to Shelby Spuller, who is averaging 3.74 kills per set and a .193 hitting percentage. Emily Falldorf comes in with 2.02 kills per set and a .180 hitting percentage. At setter, Kelsey Dewulf paces Minot State with 9.94 assists per set.
Defensively, the Beavers are tallying 14.63 digs per set guided by Karli Koza's 4.96 digs per set, while Mekayla Gurley is notching 2.04 digs per set. The Minot State block is propelled by Falldorf's 0.65 blocks per set.
