Set One
Â
The Jimmies established themselves immediately tonight, jumping out to a 9-1 lead early. In the first set, the Jimmies had all the answers for what the Golden Eagles threw at them.
Â
The Golden Eagles did get a 3-0 run, including a service ace from Ellery Ehresmann to try and get her team back into the set.Â
Â
The Jimmies did not let up, however, and went on a 5-1 run to close out the first set with a 25-11 win.
Â
Set Two
Â
Set two was much more competitive at the start. The Golden Eagles opened up the second set by taking a 4-1 lead, thanks in part to an Emma Malek (Sr., MH, Plainfield, Ill.) kill that was assisted by Ehresmann.
Â
The Jimmies did bring the set back to even at four apiece before the two teams would go back and forth for a while. Once the score was tied up at 9-9, the Jimmies put pedal to the metal and went on a 7-1 run to gain the momentum in this set.Â
Â
The Golden Eagles did try to get a late surge to get back into the set, getting a 3-0 run thanks to two kills by Carizma Muth (Sr., OH, Randolph, Wis.) and one by Lexi Scharold. But it was not enough as the Jimmies immediately got the next two points to win set two 25-17.
Â
Set Three
The Golden Eagles struggled to establish a presence in the third set tonight. The Jimmies immediately jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back. Every time the Golden Eagles got a point, the Jimmies answered right back and prevented the Maroon and Gold from going on any runs.Â
In the third set, the Jimmies had one 4-0 run and two 3-0 runs. They took charge from the beginning of the set and never let up. The Golden Eagles did not have answers for what the Jimmies put on the floor tonight, and they dropped the third set by a score of 25-11.
