Golden Eagles prepare for last home series of the season

Crookston, Minn.—The University of Minnesota Crookston women's soccer team gets set for their final home series of the season this with matches on Friday and Sunday. Minnesota State University-Mankato, and Concordia University-St. Paul will make the trips up north for matches with the Golden Eagles.
 
Minnesota Crookston comes of two matches out west last weekend with a scoreless tie against UMary, and a 4-0 loss to the Beavers of Minot State.
 
The young squad has seen growth during the season, and 7th year head coach Joe Alianiello will look for his squad to continue to improve in the latter part of the season.
 
In net, Athena DiMario Done (So. Windsor, Ontario) has been solid for Minnesota Crookston. DiMario Done has started seven games, and has played in eight of the possible 13 this season. She has a goals allowed average of 2.01, and has made 75 saves. DiMario Done will look to improve on her win-loss record this weekend, which sits at 1-4-2.
 
The youth shows up in the stats sheet offensively as well for the Golden Eagles. Maggee Hodgdon (Fr. Newberg, Ore.) leads the team in goals (3), points (6), and shots (16). Vanessa Shelton (So. Tacoma, Wash.), Lindsey Daml (Jr. North Pole, Alaska), and Jessica Withrow (So. Gardnerville, Nev.) each sit at two points on the season.
 
Mataya Mierzejewski (Fr. Woodbury, Minn.), and Paige Pettit (Jr. St. Michael, Minn.) have been solid defensively for Minnesota Crookston.

The Mavericks come into Crookston as one of the best teams in the nation. Ranked at number 22 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, the Mavericks only blemish on their schedule came against Central Missouri, who was ranked first in the nation at the time.
 
Head coach Brian Bahl is in his fifth season at the helm of the Mavericks. The 2015 NSIC coach of the year has a career record of 90-11-10, and 67-4-4 in NSIC play.
MSU-Mankato has four players that sit at 10 or more points on the season. Dakota Wendell leads the Mavericks in goals with seven, and points with 19. Julia Zach, Molly Riley, and Morgan Cottew round out the double-digit scorers for the Mavericks. Cottew, and Brynn Desens each have three game winning goals on the season.
 
In net, expect Alexa Rabune to get the start Friday afternoon. Rabune has a goals against average of 0.67, and has allowed just eight goals on the season. Rabune has five shutouts this season.
 
The Mavericks have dominated opponents in the second half this season, outscoring them 21-4.

Head Coach Steve Bellis brings his Golden Bears into Crookston coming off of a 3-1 loss to Minnesota Crookston's Friday opponent, Minnesota State University-Mankato.
 
Offensively, Brooke Salo, and Jena Berkland lead the Golden Bears with nine points each on the season. Both Berkland and Salo have scored four goals on the season.
 
In net, it has been a team effort for CSP. Emily Nelson has started in five games this season, giving up two goals, and making 15 saves on the season. Jordan Clark has started seven games for the Golden Bears allowing five goals, and a win-loss record of 5-1-2. Each goalkeeper has a goals against average of under one.
 
On the season, CSP has allowed just seven goals on the season, so it is a tall task to score on the Golden Bears.
