CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team will commence the 2017 season at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. Sat., Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. The Golden Eagles will open up the season with a non-conference match against College of Saint Benedict out of St. Joseph, Minn.
The Golden Eagles are 0-0 in the first season under Head Coach
Lee Meier, who had previously been a long-time assistant coach at Crookston High School.
Minnesota Crookston will look to three returnees for the 2017 season.
Whitney Erickson (Jr., Spring Valley, Minn.) returns with two years of experience for Minnesota Crookston. She was 3-12 in singles at the No. 2 slot. In doubles, she paired with
Catherine Brown to go 3-12.
Reanne Erickson (So., Fargo, N.D.) returns to the fray after posting an 0-10 mark at No. 4 singles last season. She also played No. 2 doubles.
Tien Nguyen (So., Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) went 0-13 at No. 6 singles in 2016.
UMC brings in four newcomers or the 2017 season including:
Yoonhee Cho (Fr., Gyeonggi-do, South Korea),
Ellen Dauphinais (Sr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.),
Hanna Ruckheim (Fr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and
Adrianna Tiede (Fr., LeCenter, Minn.).
CSB comes in with a 2-2 mark with wins over Buena Vista University and University of Wisconsin-Stout. Saint Benedict looks to Laura Finn at No. 1 singles with a 3-1 mark. Tessa Rahrick comes in with a 2-2 mark at No. 2 singles. At No. 1 doubles, Rahrick and Finn enter with a 2-2 mark.
