GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 9-0 to Augustana University Sun., Feb. 26 at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-9 on the season with the loss. Augustana moves to 7-2 with the win.
"Augustana is the top team in the conference," said Head Coach
Lee Meier. "They have won 83-conseuctive matches in the NSIC. We competed hard, we are making progress in developing a complete game. Now we have a month to work towards getting a complete game from our players March 26th."
In doubles, Minnesota Crookston would be swept 3-0 by the Vikings.
Whitney Erickson (Jr., Spring Valley, Minn.) and
Reanne Erickson (So., Fargo, N.D.) fell 8-0 to Taylor Jackson and Meredith Lawrence. At the No. 2 doubles spot,
Adrianna Tiede (Fr., LeCenter, Minn.) and
Ellen Dauphinais (Sr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) fell 8-1 to Rebecca Falkner and Kaitlyn Motley. At No. 3 doubles,
Hanna Ruckheim (Fr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and
Tien Nguyen (Sr., Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) fell 8-0 to Christine Olivo and Anna Steinwand.
In singles,
Whitney Erickson fell 6-0, 6-0 to Berkley Darr at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 singles,
Reanne Erickson was able to take one game, but fell 6-1, 6-0 to Olivo. At the No. 3 slot, Dauphinais fell 6-0, 6-0 to Falkner. At No. 4 singles, Ruckheim was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Kaitlyn Motley. At the No. 5 spot, Tiede was upended 6-0, 6-0 by Annika Teske. No. 6 singles had Nguyen taking one game but falling 6-0, 6-1 to Steinwand.
Minnesota Crookston will return to action March 26 against University of Wisconsin-River Falls to be played at Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
