GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team trailed by just nine at the break, but a big fourth quarter led the University of North Dakota to a 79-50 win. The Fighting Hawks out-scored the Golden Eagles 30-14 in the final quarter as they picked up the exhibition win.
Minnesota Crookston finishes exhibition play with a 1-1 mark after defeating Concordia College (Minn.) and falling to Division I foe North Dakota. UND finishes exhibition play with a 2-0 mark after defeating University of Minnesota Morris and the Golden Eagles.

Micaela Noga (Sr., G, Parkers Prairie, Minn.) notched 12 points on 5-of-14 from the field.
Caitlin Michaelis (Jr., G, Marshfield, Wis.) notched seven points and four rebounds, while Kasey Harper (Fr., G, Mesa, Ariz.) continued to give energy off the bench with seven points on 3-of-4 from the field.
The Golden Eagles finished the night 18-of-49 from the field for 36.7 percent. They struggled from beyond the arc as they were 1-of-7 for 14.3 percent.
Minnesota Crookston went 13-of-22 for 59.1 percent from the free throw line.
North Dakota finished the exhibition 33-of-70 for 47.1 percent. They were 2-of-7 from beyond the arc and 11-of-15 from the charity stripe for 73.3 percent. The Fighting Hawks won the battle of the glass 40-33.
North Dakota looked to Lexi Klabo with a double-double of 20 pointsa nd 11 boards. Melissa Dailey notched 16 points and six assists on the night. Fallyn Freije chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds.
UND took a 6-4 lead with a fast-break lay-up from Dailey. The Fighting Hawks extended their advantage to 8-4 with a Freije bucket before Minnesota Crookston would cut the deficit back down to 8-7 with an old-fashioned three-point play from Noga.
North Dakota extended their lead to 14-9 with a pair of free throws from Akealy Moton. The Fighting Hawks extended the lead to 16-11 with a Mikayla Reinke jumper. The Fighting Hawks went into the quarter break ahead by the 16-11 advantage.
The Golden Eagles looked to Odor, who was 2-of-4 with four points and two boards.
Caitlin Michaelis chipped in three points in the first quarter. The Golden Eagles were 5-of-12 for 41.7 percent from the field in the opening half. They had five turnovers in the first quarter.
UND shot 38.9 percent from the field on 7-of-18 from the field. The Fighting Hawks looked to Dailey with four points, while Moton and Freije chipped in four points. Klabo led the way with four boards, while Freije had three rebounds. North Dakota had four turnovers in the opening quarter.
UND moved their lead to 20-13 to open the second quarter following a Melissa Leet jumper. A Harper three-pointer as the buzzer rang brought the Golden Eagles back to within three at 20-17 with 7:47 left in the second frame.
The Fighting Hawks fought off Minnesota Crookston with a 10-0 run led by four points as they took the 30-17 lead with 4:52 left in the second half.
Michaelis stopped the run with a fast-break bucket to cut the lead to 30-19 with 3:11 remaining in the second quarter. Harper fouled UND's Dailey on the three on the ensuing possession, sending her to the line. Dailey hit 2-of-3 to move the advantage to 32-19 with 2:56 remaining.
A long jumper from McWilliams and a Noga old-fashioned three-point play made a 5-0 run for the Golden Eagles as they knocked the deficit down to 32-24 with 1:25 left in the second quarter. Minnesota Crookston moved their run to 6-0 with a Michaelis free throw to cut the deficit to 32-25.
North Dakota stopped the run with a Chastity Franklin basket to make it 34-25. The Fighting Hawks would go into the break with the nine-point advantage.
The Golden Eagles shot 10-of-19 in the first half for 52.6 percent. They were 1-of-1 from long distance and 4-of-10 from the charity stripe. Minnesota Crookston looked to seven points and five boards from Odor. Noga added six points. Michaelis and Harper each chipped in five points. Amber Schoenicke (So., F, Marshall, Wis.) added three boards in the opening period.
Minnesota Crookston struggled to hold on to the ball in the first half with 13 turnovers to just four in the first half for UND.
The Fighting Hawks shot 13-of-37 from the field for 35.1 percent. They were 0-of-4 from long distance and 8-of-12 for 66.7 from the charity stripe. UND was paced by nine points from Dailey. Moton, Klabo and Freije added six points apiece. Klabo and Freije led the Fighting Hawks on the boards with four rebounds apiece.
The Fighting Hawks moved their lead to 40-29 early in the third quarter with a pair of free throws from Klabo. Odor was able to get the Golden Eagles within single-digits with a free throw to cut the lead to 40-31 with three minutes left in the third quarter.
UND pushed their advantage back out to 43-31 with a three from the top of the key from Dailey. A Julia Fleecs bucket would push the lead back out to 45-32 for the Fighting Hawks. Minnesota Crookston responded when Michaelis found Odor wide open in the post to cut the lead to 45-34. However, Klabo connected with Fleecs to move the lead out to 47-34. A Franklin fast-break lay-up pushed the advantage to 49-34. The Golden Eagles ended the third quarter with a buzzer-beater from Noga to cut the lead to 49-36 going into the quarter break.
The third quarter was very defensive oriented for both teams as North Dakota out-scored Minnesota Crookston 15-11 in the frame.
Odor had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards at the end of the frame. Noga added 10 points on 4-of-11 from the field. Michaelis chipped in five points, as did Harper.
The Golden Eagles went into the final quarter shooting 13-of-36 for 36.1 percent. They were 1-of-4 from three-point range for 25 percent and 9-of-18 from the charity stripe.
Minnesota Crookston limited UND to 19-of-51 for 37.3 percent. The Fighting Hawks shot just 1-of-5 for 20 percent in the first three quarters. North Dakota looked to 12 points from Dailey, while Klabo added 10 points and seven boards.
UND opened the fourth quarter on a 4-0 run with baskets from Freije and Klabo to make it 53-36. Odor stopped the run with a pair of free throws to bring the Golden Eagles back within 53-38 with 8:29 left in the fourth quarter. The Fighting Hawks came right with another run with a lay-up from Klabo and a jumper from Dailey to push the lead to 57-38 with 7:44 left in the game.
An Odor bucket and two free throws from Michaelis pulled the Golden Eagles within 59-42 with 6:55 remaining. Freije responded with an old-fashioned three-point play for UND to push the lead to 20 (62-42).
An Odor jumper cut the deficit back down to 18 for the Golden Eagles with under six minutes left in the game. The Fighting Hawks used three buckets from Freije and a basket from Klabo to make it 70-46 with 3:30 remaining. A triple from Hailey Strand pushed the UND lead to 73-46.
UND would take the 77-50 win after out-scoring the Golden Eagles 30-14 in the final quarter of the game.
