HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 8-1 to Fairmont State University Fri., March 18 in Hilton Head, S.C. The Golden Eagles were led by the play at singles from
Whitney Erickson (So., Spring Valley, Minn.). She picked up her second singles win of the season on Friday.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-11 on the season with the loss.
At No. 2 singles,
Whitney Erickson picked up the win by retiring Harman Waraich. At No. 1,
Catherine Brown (Sr., Powell Butte, Ore.) fell 6-0, 6-2 to Trinite Klamadji. At the No. 3 slot,
Bailey Morris (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) fell 6-3. 6-0 to Mollee Brown. At No. 4 singles,
Reanne Erickson (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) was upended by Janay Beamer, 6-2, 6-1. At the No. 5 singles position,
Nikki Dogan (So., Grand Forks, N.D.) was upended by Geena Lammertin, 6-0, 6-2. At the No. 6 slot,
Tien Nguyen (Fr., Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) fell 6-0, 6-0 to Emily Hart.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Brown and
Whitney Erickson battled but fell to Fairmont State's Klamadji and Waraich, 8-4. At No. 2 doubles, Morris and Dogan fell to Beamer and Lammertin, 8-0. At the No. 3 slot, Nguyen and
Reanne Erickson would fall 8-0 to Brown and Hart.
The Golden Eagles will return to action April 2 against Minnesota State University Moorhead, which will be played in Bismarck, N.D. at 2 p.m.
