CROOKSTON, Minn. – University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball player
Katrina Nordick (Sr., F, Perham, Minn./Applied Studies) and
Nate Albrecht (Fr., LHP, Wahpeton, N.D./Health Sciences) have been selected as UMC Teambackers Student-Athletes of the Week for the seven-day period from Jan. 28-Feb. 3. Albrecht is a first-time honoree, selected for having over a 3.9 GPA in health sciences in his first semester as a Golden Eagle. Nordick has earned the honor four times during the 2015-16 season.
Albrecht is one of student-athletes we have honored this year for his performance in the classroom, an important part of being a successful student-athlete. Albrecht is off to an outstanding start in his academic career with a 3.9 GPA in health sciences. The freshman should be a contributor on the pitching staff in his first season with the Golden Eagles providing a powerful lefty to Coach
Steve Gust's staff. The UMC baseball team will officially get under way Feb. 27 against Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo.
Nordick had a strong weekend for the Golden Eagles. The third-leading scorer in the NSIC averaged 17.5 points for the Golden Eagles in a pair of games against Upper Iowa University and Winona State University. Nordick had 21 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-22 from the field against Upper Iowa in a win last Friday over the Peacocks. She added two assists on the game. Nordick had 14 points and five boards against No. 10 Winona State University Saturday. She was 6-of-10 from the field and added four assists on the game. Nordick is averaging 17.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the Golden Eagles.
The UMC Teambackers Student-Athlete of the Week award honors accomplishments of Golden Eagle student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and in the community and has been doing so for the last three seasons.
