SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell to Augustana University 9-0 Sat., Feb. 27 and University of Sioux Falls 9-0 Sun., Feb. 28 in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-7 on the 2016 season.
In doubles,
Whitney Erickson (So., Spring Valley, Minn.) and
Catherine Brown (Sr., Powell Butte, Ore.) fell to Joey Wenborg and Emily Erickson of Sioux Falls, 8-5. At the No. 2 slot,
Bailey Morris (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) and
Reanne Erickson (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) fell to Kara Bunkers and Kylie Simons, 8-0. At No. 3 doubles, Abby Seigenthaler and Stacey Beard upended
Tien Nguyen (Fr., Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) and
Emily Campbell (Jr., Aitkin, Minn.), 8-0. Campbell was making her tennis team debut on the weekend.
In singles, Brown fell 6-3, 6-3 to Wenborg. At the No. 2 slot,
Whitney Erickson put up a fight, forcing three sets, but fell to Emily Erickson, 6-3, 6-7, 10-5. At the No. 3 slot, Beard defeated Morris, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Simons upended
Reanne Erickson, 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 5 spot, Campball was upended by Cortney McCans, 6-0, 6-0. Nguyen fell 6-0, 6-0 to Lilly Nettles.
Against Augustana,
Whitney Erickson and Brown fell 8-1 at No. 1 singles to Jessa Richards and Kornel Staniszewska. At No. 2 doubles,
Reanne Erickson and Morris fell 8-0 to Berkley Darr and Sydney Postal. At the No. 3 spot, Campbell and Nguyen fell 8-0 to Kaitlyn Motley and Meredith Lawrence.
In singles, Brown fell to Richards, 6-0, 6-0.
Whitney Erickson fell to Sydney Postal, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Morris dropped her match to Darr, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 4 singles,
Reanne Erickson fell 6-2, 6-0 to Christine Olivo. At the No. 5 slot, Campell fell 6-0, 6-0 to Motley. At the No.6 spot, Nguyen fell 6-0, 6-0 to Kathryn McLaughlin.
