GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 8-1 to Winona State University Sat., Feb. 13 at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. The Golden Eagles were led by a singles win at the No. 1 spot from
Catherine Brown (Sr., Powell Butte, Ore.).

At No. 1 doubles, Brown and
Whitney Erickson (So., Spring Valley, Minn.) made things tough for Winona State's Justine Daane and Rachel Gantz, but ultimately fell 8-3. At the No. 2 slot,
Bailey Morris (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) and
Nikki Dogan (So., Grand Forks, N.D.) fell 8-2 to Keara Thiele and Hattie Scott. At the No. 3 double spot,
Reanne Erickson (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) and
Tien Nguyen (Fr., Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) fell 8-0 to Melissa Boehmke and Lauren Willkom.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Brown came away with a big win over Daane in a hard-fought three sets. She won 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. At the No. 2 spot,
Whitney Erickson fell 6-1, 6-3 to Gantz. At No. 3 singles, Morris fell to Scott, 6-0, 6-3. At the No. 4 singles slot, Dogan fell to Willkom, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 5 singles,
Reanne Erickson fell to Thiele, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 6, Nguyen fell to Boehmke, 6-0, 6-0.
The Golden Eagles will return to action Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. against University of Minnesota Duluth at the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
