CROOKSTON, Minn.
 – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team will take on No. 14 Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead in a pair of NSIC road tilts Fri., Oct. 7 and Sat., Oct. 8. The Golden Eagles will take on the Wolves at 7 p.m. Friday and the Dragons Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Golden Eagles are 6-9 (2-5 NSIC). Minnesota Crookston comes into the weekend in a tie for 11th place. They are just a game back from ninth and just two games back from sixth in a very highly contested NSIC this season. Minnesota Crookston struggled last weekend with a pair of road losses to Winona State University and Upper Iowa University, but they are looking to bounce back with strong performances on the weekend.

Northern State is currently tied for sixth place in the conference with a 4-3 mark in league play. Northern State is 11-4 on the season, while MSU Moorhead is 1-6 in league play and 6-9 overall.

Minnesota Crookston
After a tough weekend on the road last time out, UMC will try to channel some of what they had against a strong Minnesota State University team the previous week, in which they won 3-2 in five sets. The Golden Eagles are hitting .173 on the season with 11.75 kills per set. Minnesota Crookston has looked to Maggie Perrel (R-Jr., OH, New Germany, Minn.), who is averaging 3.31 kills per set and hitting .139.

The Golden Eagles are at their best when they are getting production from several hitters and not just Perrel, who teams often key toward. Kelci Green (R-Jr., MH, Anoka, Minn.) comes in averaging 2.29 kills per set and hitting .317 on the season. Her twin sister Kassi Green (R-Jr., OH, Anoka, Minn.) is tallying 2.11 kills per set on the year.

Minnesota Crookston is led by four-year starter at setter Sierra Trost (Sr., S, Ham Lake, Minn.). Trost is averaging 9.44 assists per set on the season. She has been one of the team's best servers this season with 22 service aces and just eight errors.

Defensively, UMC is averaging 14.29 digs per set. The Golden Eagles look to the play of Ali Schueler (R-Fr., DS/Lib., Howards Grove, Wis.) at libero.

Schueler is tallying 3.65 digs per set. Trost also chips in 2.58 digs per set, while Perrel is averaging 2.29 digs per set.

On the block, Kelci Green is averaging 0.60 blocks per set, while Callie Schapekahm (So., MH, Eagan, Minn.) averages 0.55 blocks per set.

Northern State
Northern State has been an impressive story this season after losing key players Drew Smith and Kelsey Chambers to graduation after a 25-4 mark on the season.

The Wolves also graduated Cari McGarvie and Renee Hoffmann. They are also missing Mandy Kurosky to injury. The only returnees have been Tori Biach and Kellie Schmit. Northern State is hitting .248 on the season with 13.31 kills per set. The Wolves have looked to Holly Vancura's 3.17 kills per set and .253 hitting perentage. Schmit is averaging 2.56 kills and 0.93 blocks on the season, while Biach is averaging 2.50 kills and 0.96 blocks.

At setter, Ashley Rozell has stepped into the starting role and is averaging 12.11 assists per set.

Defensively, Northern State looks to Vancura's 3.43 digs per set, while Jaiden Langlie and Annika van Oosbree are averaging 3.04 digs per set.

MSU Moorhead
The Dragons have struggled in conference play with a 1-6 mark in the NSIC. They are 6-9 on the season. MSU Moorhead has lost six-straight.

The Dragons are hitting .175 on the season with 11.91 kills per set. Carly Masloski leads the way with 3.06 kills per set, while Sarah Hagler and Ellie Rutten are both averaging 2.33 kills per set.

At setter, Makayla Wenzel is averaging 9.74 assists per set.

Defensively, MSU Moorhead has looked to Monica Vega's 5.61 digs per set. On the block, the Dragons look to Hagler's 0.96 blocks per set.

MSU Moorhead is very young this season with Masloski and Vega as the only two starters who had appeared in matches for the Dragons last season.
