Golden Eagles Take On Bemidji State in Mid-Week Match

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team will host Bemidji State University Tues., Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium. The game is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night as the volleyball team honors the faculty and staff for everything they do to support UMC athletics.
The Golden Eagles come into the match with an 8-11 (4-7 NSIC) mark on the season. Minnesota Crookston is alone in ninth place in the NSIC standings. They are just two games back from being in the Top 8. Bemidji State enters the match with a 7-13 (3-8 NSIC) record.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a big weekend sweep of University of Mary and Minot State University last weekend. Minnesota Crookston enters the final nine matches of the season in strong position as they try to make the NSIC Tournament. The Golden Eagles have five matches against ranked opponents left on the schedule.

Minnesota Crookston has been led by Maggie Perrel (R-Jr., OH, New Germany, Minn.), who is coming off a great weekend. Perrel averaged 5.14 kills per set and hit .242 for the Golden Eagles against the Marauders and Beavers. In addition, she tallied 2.43 digs per set. Perrel is coming off 21 kills and a .357 hitting percentage against Minot State. Perrel is tallying 3.45 kills per set.

In addition to Perrel, Kassi Green (R-Jr., OH, Anoka, Minn.) comes in averaging 2.44 kills per set, while her twin sister Kelci Green (R-Jr., MH, Anoka, Minn.) is averaging 2.28 kills per set on the year.

At setter, Sierra Trost (Sr., S, Ham Lake, Minn.) has been on the top of her game as of late. Trost comes in averaging 9.91 assists per set. She has helped UMC to a .177 hitting percentage on the season and 12.04 kills per set.

Defensively, Minnesota Crookston is led by Ali Schueler (R-Fr., Lib., Howards Grove, Wis.), who continues to improve in the back and is averaging 3.82 digs per set. Trost is averaging 2.52 digs per set to aid Schueler.

Bemidji State
The Beavers are also coming off a weekend sweep of Minot State and U-Mary. Bemidji State is in their first season under Head Coach Kevin Ulmer.

Bemidji State has averaged 11.6 kills per set this season and is hitting .203 on the season. The Beavers have been led on the year by their pair of senior outside hitters in Jessica Yost and Amanda Tronick. The pair is accounting for 63 percent of BSU's offense this season. Yost leads the way with 3.93 kills per set and a .259 hitting percentage, while Tronick is averaging 3.38 kills per set and hitting .231 on the year.

At setter, Shelby Haney leads the way for Bemidji State with 6.83 assists per set, while Jordyn Koehn has averaged 4.16 assists per set on the year.

Defensively, Bemidji State has looked to Emma Hallmann's 3.36 digs per set, while Yost is averaging 2.94 digs per set. On the block, BSU looks to Heather Fletcher's 0.97 blocks per set to lead the way.
