GRAND FORKS, N.D.- The University of Minnesota Crookston women's tennis team fell 7-2 to Concordia College Moorhead Sunday afternoon in a home match at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-10 on the 2015 season.
The Golden Eagles opened things up being able to earn a win at No. 1 doubles as
Catherine Brown (Jr.,Powell Butte, Ore./Animal Science) and
Whitney Erickson (Fr., Spring Valley, Minn./Early Childhood Education) defeated Brittany Glatt and Kendra Stoick, 7-2. At No. 2 doubles, Jade Haseltine and Taylor Peterson of the Cobbers upended
Christina Smith (Fr., Oylen, Minn./Communications) and
Nikki Dogan (Fr., Grand Forks, N.D./Health Science), 8-1. At the No. 3 spot, Morgan Sawatzke and Rose Reinert defeated
Rachelle Alcini (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Health Science) and
Chelsea Burrows (So., Eagan, Minn.) 8-0.
In singles, Brown upended Glatt at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. At the No. 2 slot, Erickson won the first set over Haseltine, 6-1, but dropped the final two sets, 6-2 and 10-6. At No. 3, Stoick upended Smith, 6-2, 6-0. At the No. 4 slot, Peterson defeated Dogan, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 5, Susan Zniewski defeated Alcini, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 6, Liz Elton defeated Brrows, 6-1, 6-1.
Minnesota Crookston will return to the court March 27 at 5:30 p.m. as they host University of Mary at Choice Health and Fitness.
