WINONA, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 9-0 to Winona State University Saturday evening in Winona, Minn. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season as they opened up the
Ryan McGuigan era on Saturday. Winona State moves to 2-1 overall with the win.
In doubles,
Catherine Brown (Jr., Powell Butte, Ore./Animal Science) and
Whitney Erickson (Fr., Spring Valley, Minn./Early Childhood Education) fell 8-0 to Aimee Basinski and Brianna Havelka. At No. 2 doubles,
Christina Smith (Fr., Oylen, Minn./Communication) and
Nikki Dogan (Fr., Grand Forks, N.D./Health Science) fell 8-0 to Justine Daane and Leah Dahl. At the No. 3 slot,
Rachelle Alcini (Sr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Health Science) and
Chelsea Burrows (So., Eagan, Minn.) fell 8-0 to Katie Scruggs and Ellyn Grossen.
In singles, Brown fell at No. 1, 6-1, 6-2 to Havelka. At the No. 2 slot, Erickson lost 6-0, 6-3 to Daane. At the No. 3 singles spot, Smith fell 6-0, 6-0 to Dahl. At No. 4 singles, Dogan lost 6-1, 6-0 to Scruggs. At the No. 5 spot, Alcini fell 6-0, 6-1 to Grossen. At No. 6, Burrows was upended by Lauren Willkom, 6-0, 6-0.
The Golden Eagles will return to action as they host NCAA Division I foe University of Montana at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D. Fri., Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m.
