The Golden Eagles have been highlighted this season by their overall team defense. Minnesota Crookston is third in the league with 16.81 digs per set, behind just Wayne State College (Neb.) and Augustana University. The key for UMC has been team defense, as it hasn't just been one been person leading the way. Stephanie Pearson (Sr., OH, Frankfort, Ill.) has been a big piece of the puzzle with 3.79 digs per set, while libero Casey Cashman (Jr., Ashland, Wis.) comes in averaging 3.52 digs per set. On the offensive end, UMC has become a more well-balanced offense, trying to make up for the graduation of All-NSIC First Team pick Brittany Looker, but that hasn't been a bad thing. Perrel is right outside of the top 10 in kills per set for the conference, averaging 3.00 kills per set and hitting .116. Pearson is averaging 2.62 kills per set on her senior season. UMC is also getting strong production from their middle hitters. Hagen has been one of the best serve specialists in the league this season with 21 service aces at a clip of 0.40 services aces per set, which is currently third in the league.

At setter, Sierra Trost (Jr., Ham Lake, Minn.) has been strong in her third season starting for the Golden Eagles. Trost is averaging 9.87 assists per set. Trost recently eclipsed 2,300 assists and is currently fourth all-time in career assists at UMC and could move into third by season's end.
