MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston fell 69-42 to No. 8 Minnesota State University Moorhead Friday night at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. The Dragons took early command of the game and didn't look back. MSU Moorhead improves to 21-1 (12-1 NSIC). UMC falls to 6-11 (4-9 NSIC) with the loss.

The Golden Eagles were led by eight points from Kevin Larson (Sr., G, New Ulm, Minn./Sports and Rec Management). Derrick Redd, Jr. (Jr., G, Menifee, Calif./Sports and Rec Management) added six points, as did John Hughes (Jr., F, San Diego, Calif./Management).

UMC was 17-of-49 for 34.7 percent from the field and 7-of-18 from beyond the arc for 38.9 percent. The Golden Eagles got to the charity stripe just five times and made one.

MSU Moorhead had four players in double-figures. Jordan Riewer led the way with 11 points and six boards, while Urbane Bingham came off the benmch for 10 points and six boards. Evan Holt added 10 points, while Tyler Vaughan also had 10.

The Dragons were 27-of-55 for 49.1 percent from the field and 4-of-17 for 23.5 percent from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles would find themselves down 36-17 at the half against the Dragons after struggling to buy a bucket early on in the contest. UMC would shoot 7-of-24 for 29.2 percent from the field and 3-of-8 for 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.

UMC was led by six points from Larson in the first half. Redd tallied four points for the Golden Eagles. Larson's last second heave and make would highlight the first half along with a highlight reel dunk for Redd. The rest was all MSU Moorhead.

The Golden Eagles were out-rebounded 24-12 at the break.

MSU Moorhead was paced by eight points from Isaac Sevlie. Riewer added six points, while Bingham came off the bench for eight points. The Dragons were 13-of-28 from the field for 46.4 percent and 1-of-5 for 20 percent from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles will return to play Sat., Jan. 24 as they take on Northern State University at 7 p.m.
