Box Score (Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston defeated Mayville State University 4-3 in eight innings in a non-conference baseball game today in Mayville, N.D. The game was the completion of a halted game from back on March 5 where the four hour and thirty minute time limit at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome expired with the Golden Eagles leading 3-1 going into the bottom half of the seventh inning.
The Comets were down to their final out before scoring two runs to tie the game at 3-3. U of M, Crookston responded with a run in the top half of the eighth and held on for the 4-3 victory.
Nick Kelzer (So, RHP, Delano, Minn.) picked up his third win of the year allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out six and walking three over 7.1 innings.
Joe Miller (Fr, RHP, Winona, Minn.) picked up his fourth save of the season throwing the final two outs with one strikeout.
Jordan Prill (Jr, DH, Melrose, Minn.) had two hits and the game winning run batted in (RBI).
Jordan Flick (Jr, 3B, Dassel, Minn.) added two hits.
Zachary Mihic had two hits and two RBI for Mayville State University.
The Golden Eagles improve to 9-25 on the season. The Comets fall to 27-14. U of M, Crookston closes out the home portion of their schedule with a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series against the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22. Doubleheaders begin at 1:30 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
