Box Score (Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston pounded out 17 hits but stranded 12 runners as the University of Charleston edged the Golden Eagles 7-6 in U of M, Crookston's finale of the Russ Matt Invitational today in Winter Haven, Fla.
Jordan Prill (Jr, 1B, Melrose, Minn.),
Jordan Osmundson (Fr, OF, East Grand Forks, Minn.) and
J.C. Crane (Jr, C, Tucson, Ariz.) each went 3-5. Prill had a double and a solo homerun. Crane had two doubles while Osmundson added a run batted in (RBI).
Josh Brehmer (So, 2B, Roseville, Minn.) added two hits, including a double, and an RBI.
Charlie Pelzer (So, SS, Roseville, Minn.) added two hits and an RBI.
J.M. Habeck (Sr, OF, Winnipeg, Man.) had two hits.
Joe Miller (Fr, RHP, Winona, Minn.) threw five innings allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits while striking out three and walking three to take the loss.
Corey Hill and Brad Johnson each had two hits and two RBI for the University of Charleston. Shane Masters threw five innings allowing four runs on 13 hits to get the win.
The University of Charleston improves to 11-4 while the Golden Eagles fall to 5-7. U of M, Crookston returns to action when they open the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) season on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday March 25 at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. Doubleheaders begin at 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
