Box Score 2 (Crookston, Minn.)- East Stroudsburg University (ESU) swept the University of Minnesota, Crookston in a non-conference baseball doubleheader at the Winning Inning Invitational at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, Fla. The Warriors took game one 4-2 and the nightcap 9-4.
Game One Recap
ESU broke open a 1-1 game with a three-run third fourth inning and went on to defeat the Golden Eagles 4-2.
Josh Brehmer (So, IF, Roseville, Minn.) went 3-4 including a double for U of M, Crookston.
Ben Lazzari (Sr, RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) threw six innings scattering four runs on six hits to take the loss. He struck out three and walked two. Brian Ernst homered for ESU. Michael Muglia threw seven innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking one to get the win for the Warriors.
Game Two Recap
After a 2-2 first inning, ESU outscored the Golden Eagles 5-2 the rest of the way to win 9-4. Evan Gallagher and Ryan Guarino each had two hits for the Warriors. Zac Menendez added three runs batted in. Jake Traub threw 4.1 innings allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking three to get the win. Brehmer,
Matt Korte (So, 3B, St. Cloud, Minn.) and
Jordan Osmundson (Fr, SS, East Grand Forks, Minn.) each had two hits and one RBI for U of M, Crookston.
Jordan Flick (Jr, RHP, Dassel, Minn.) threw 4.2 innings allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits while striking out one and walking four.
East Stroudsburg University improves to 11-4 overall. U of M, Crookston falls to 4-5 overall. The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 13 when they play Northwood University (Mich.) and Kentucky Wesleyan College at 12:30 p.m. (CST) and 3 p.m. (CST).
