Box Score (Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston used a five-run fifth inning to defeat Wheeling Jesuit University (W.V.) today in a non-conference baseball game at the Russ Matt Invitational in Auburndale, Fla.

The Golden Eagles took an early 2-0 lead scoring runs in the bottom of the second and third innings. However, the Cardinals got on the board in the top half of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. U of M, Crookston rebounded in the bottom half of the fifth inning scoring five runs on four hits and held on for the 7-3 victory.

The Golden Eagles pounded out 12 hits and were led by Matt Korte (So, 3B, St. Cloud, Minn.) who went 3-4 and a run batted in (RBI). P.J. Zwach (Sr, C, St. Paul, Minn.) went 2-3 with three RBI including two doubles. Mitch Allore (Sr, 1B, North Mankato, Minn.) went 2-4 with an RBI. Josh Brehmer (So, 2B, Roseville, Minn.) added two hits while Jordan Osmundson (Fr, LF, East Grand Forks, Minn.) added a double and an RBI with a sacrifice fly. Bobby Arens (Jr, RHP, Kimball, Minn.) threw six innings allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking three to get the victory. Kyle Kleven (Fr, RHP, Larimore, N.D.) threw two innings allowing no runs on no hits and struck out one. Joe Miller (Fr, RHP, Winona, Minn.) closed out the game throwing the ninth allowing no runs on one hit.

Wheeling Jesuit University was led by Steve Buffo who had two hits and one RBI. Parker Lang threw four innings allowing seven runs on nine hits while striking out one and walking three to take the loss.

The Cardinals fall to 6-5 overall. U of M, Crookston improves to 4-3. The Golden Eagles travel to Clearwater, Fla. on Sunday, March 11 to face East Stroudsburg University at the Winning Inning Invitational. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jack Russell Stadium.
