(Bemidji, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team played Bemidji State University this afternoon in Bemidji, Minn. No match was won by more than four points and there were 37 tie scores and 19 lead changes but it was the Beavers who came out on top in each of the three matches taking the 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 26-24) victory.
The Golden Eagles were led by
Brittany Looker (OH, 5-10, Fr., Rochester, Minn.) who tallied a match-high 14 kills.
Paige Mitchell (S, 5-11, So., West Palm Beach, Fla.) and
Kelsey Matykowski (S, 5-7, Jr., Sun Prairie, Wis.) split time at the setter position and earned 17 and 16 assists respectively.
Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, So., Rochester, Minn.) led all players with 22 defensive digs and
Katie Miedtke (MH, 5-10, So., Maple Grove, Minn.) led all players with five block assists.
Bemidji State was led by Kimberly Hacker's 11 kills. JessiBeth McCannell earned a match-high 31 assists while Bethany Thompson led all players with four service aces and added 10 kills.
The Golden Eagles are 4-7 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. Bemidji State moves to 4-7 overall. Minnesota, Crookston returns to the court on September 23-24 when the team hosts Concordia University, St. Paul and St. Cloud State University. Match times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday at Lysaker Gymnasium.
