(Moorhead, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team traveled to MSU Moorhead this evening in the team's only NSIC match of the weekend. The two teams battled to a 29-27 Dragon victory in the first set before taking the two sets 25-21 and 25-19 for the 3-0 victory.
Brittany Looker (OH, 5-10, Fr., Rochester, Minn.) and
Katie Miedtke (MH, 5-10, So., Maple Grove, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle offense tonight against the Dragons. Looker tied a match-high with 11 kills while Miedtke followed with 10 kills, one solo block and three assisted blocks.
Paige Mitchell (S, 5-11, So., West Palm Beach, Fla.) led the UMC setting core with 24 assists and added seven defensive digs.
Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, So., Rochester, Minn.) added 21 digs in the match. The Golden Eagle defense finished with a match-high nine total team blocks.
MSU Moorhead was led by Annie Palmquist who finished the match with 11 kills. Anna Olson led all setters with 36 assists while Katy Ness finished with a match-high 24 defensive digs.
Minnesota, Crookston is 9-14 overall this season and 3-10 in conference play. MSU Moorhead advances to 10-10 overall and 8-5 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles return to the court on October 28 and 29 when the team hosts Upper Iowa and Winona State. Matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
