Minnesota Crookston Trap Team Remains in Second after Week Three of USA College Clay Target League Spring Season

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team is in second place in Conference 6 after three weeks of competition in the spring season of the USA College Clay Target League.

Minnesota Crookston improved their score from week three with a total of 637.5. The Golden Eagles have 1,857 points, behind just Alfred State College. They currently lead Bethany Lutheran College by 15 points, and Illinois College by 30.5 points. Minnesota Crookston is also ahead of Valley City State University, Indiana Wesleyan University, and Maine Maritime Academy. 

Jayden Bergerson (Sr., Gully, Minn.) is tied for 10th among male shooters in Conference 6 with an average. Dessa Terning (Fr., Dassel, Minn.) ranks sixth among female shooters in the conference with an average of 22.67. Rebecca Morstad (Cavalier, N.D.) is tied for seventh, averaging 22.17, while Kelsey Harms (Norwood Young America, Minn.) is ninth with a 22.00 average. Terning had 25-straight during the scoring round, Morstad had 25-straight during the scoring round, as well. Bergerson had 50-straight when he started with practice, for a total of 74-of-75 including practice. 

The Golden Eagles have had balanced scoring throughout the spring season. The Golden Eagles have 16 shooters averaging hitting over 40 targets per week led by Terning, Bergerson, Lucas Wavra (So., East Grand Forks, Minn.), Chase Nelson (Jr., Red Lake Falls, Minn.), Hunter Pierson (Sr., Saint Hilaire, Minn.), and Braxton Qual (Jr., Mahnomen, Minn.). 

Bergerson and Morstad led the Golden Eagles going 49-of-50 on targets for the week. Kallen Littler (So., Bemidji, Minn.) hit 46-of-50 targets in week three. Harms was 45-of-50, as was Nelson. Eli Devore (So., Park Rapids, Minn.), Austin Hughes (So., New York Mills, Minn.), Allison Jepson (Jr., Frazee, Minn.), Braxton Qual (Jr., Mahnomen, Minn.), Terning, Wavra, and Kara Wold (Jr., Belgrade, Minn.) all went 43-of-50 for the week. Ruth Freiberg (Sr., Hopkins, Minn.) and C.J. Walsh (So.) hit 42-of-50 targets. Carter Bye (Fr.) went 40-of-50 for the week. 

The Golden Eagles are entering week four of competitive shooting. Due to the school year ending this week, they will use a reserve round for the final week of scoring.
