CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team completed their first week of shooting for the 2026 USA College Clay Target League spring season. The Golden Eagles are in Conference 6 for the spring season with Alfred State College, Bethany Lutheran College, Illinois College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Maine Maritime Academy, and Valley City State University.
The Golden Eagles are in second place in Conference 6 after an overall score of 651.5. They are behind Alfred State College with a score of 811. They are ahead of a jam of teams in third through fifth with Bethan Lutheran College scoring 567, Illinois College tallied a 552.5, and Valley City State scored 549.5.
Jayden Bergerson (Sr., Gully, Minn.) had an excellent week to tie for the lead among all male shooters in the entire USA College Clay Target League with an average of 25.0. Bergerson shot a 50-straight, and including practice knocked down 75-straight. Kara Wold (Jr., Belgrade, Minn.) is in the top 10 for female shooters in the entire league with an average of 23.5. She currently is tied for eighth. Bergerson is tied for the lead in Conference 6 for male shooters, while Lucas Wavra (So., East Grand Forks, Minn.) is tied for sixth with a 24.0 average. Wold is tied for third among female shooters in Conference 6, while Dessa Terning (Fr., Dassel, Minn.) is tied for sixth, and Kelsey Harms (Sr., Norwood Young America, Minn.) is tied for ninth.
Wavra shot 25-straight for a total competition score of 48, while Wold led the Golden Eagle females with a 47-of-50 for her competition round. Bergerson led the way overall, hitting 50-of-50. Terning connected on 46-of-50 targets. Harms went 44-of-50 for the week, as did Chase Nelson (Jr., Red Lake Falls, Minn.). Eli Devore (So., Park Rapids, Minn.), Ruth Freiberg (Sr., Hopkins, Minn.), Kallen Littler (So., Bemidji, Minn.), Rebecca Morstad (So., Cavalier, N.D.), Mackenzie Ondrush (Sr., Climax, Minn.), Hunter Pierson (Sr., Saint Hilaire, Minn.), and Brooke Rosenberg (Fr.) all went 42-of-50 on clay targets. Allison Jepson (Jr., Frazee, Minn.), Braxton Qual (Jr., Mahnomen, Minn.), and Heidi Zimmerman (Fr., Motley, Minn.) knocked down 41-of-50 targets, while Austin Hughes (So., New York Mills, Minn.), and C.J. Walsh (So.) went 40-of-50.
The Golden Eagles are set for their second week of competition this week.
