Minnesota Crookston Baseball Set for Three Games Against Sioux Falls Sunday and Monday

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team is set for a three-game series at home against the University of Sioux Falls Sunday, April 12 at 1 and 3 p.m, and Monday, April 13 at 12 p.m. The games were moved back from Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 due to field conditions. 

The Golden Eagles continue an important stretch in conference play, as they come in with a 20-12 (13-7 NSIC) mark. Minnesota Crookston has reached 20 wins for the ninth time in 11 seasons. They are currently fifth in the NSIC standings, and face the University of Sioux Falls, who is in third with a 17-15 (13-6 NSIC) mark. The Cougars have a four-game win streak coming into the Red River Valley. Minnesota Crookston is 9-23 all-time against the Cougars. The Golden Eagles are 2-4 in their last six tilts with USF. Sioux Falls won the series 3-1 in Saint George, Kan., last season.

Jackson Fliflet (R-So., C, Wahpeton, N.D.) has been a stand-out for the Golden Eagles, hitting .386 with 37 runs scored, 11 doubles, 11 home runs, and 36 RBI. Elias Leach (Fr., OF, Plymouth, Minn.) has been one of the top freshmen in the NSIC, swinging .363 with 30 runs scored, 11 doubles, five home runs, and 27 RBI. Americo Sculati (R-Sr., OF, Golden Valley, Minn.) comes in hitting .350 with 30 runs scored, 10 doubles, eight home runs, and 33 RBI. Uhlich is hitting .321 from the leadoff spot, with 36 runs scored, and 11 doubles.

The Golden Eagles have shown vast improvement in recent weeks on the mound. Minnesota Crookston has a 3.99 ERA in their last 11 games, posting a 9-2 mark during the stretch. The Golden Eagles have a 6.12 ERA in 261.2 innings pitched this season, striking out 222 and walking 139. Their opponents are hitting .287 against the Golden Eagles. Isaac Wensloff (Sr., RHP, Roseau, Minn.) has been a stand-out for Minnesota Crookston. He is 5-1 with a 4.54 ERA in 39.2 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts and 11 walks.
