Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Minnesota Crookston saw the Javelinas of Texas A & M-Kingsville score 13 runs on four Golden Eagle errors, as the Javelinas defeated Minnesota Crookston by eight, 13-5.
TAMUK struck first for a pair of runs in the first and second innings, but Minnesota Crookston would get a run back in the second as Chayse Doering (So., OF, Shakopee, Minn.) would come around from second base to score on a passed ball.
Later in the inning, Riley Blake (So., OF/P, Las Vegas, Nev.) would drive in a run with an RBI single, scoring Madeline Murray (So., C/3B, Abilene, Kan.) to knot things up at two.
TAMUK would strike for the next five runs, but the Golden Eagles would get a big inning in the bottom of the fourth.
Blake would collect her second RBI of the night with a single to right field, also scoring Murray. With the bases loaded, Rayna French (Jr., C/OF, La Salle, Manitoba) would drive in Sophie Juntunen (Sr., 1B, St. Michael, Minn.) to cut the deficit to three. One batter later, Irelyn Spencer (R-Jr., IF, Rapid City, S.D.) would walk in a run to get the Golden Eagles within two.
That's as close as the Golden Eagles would get, as they would fall to the Javelinas by eight.
Minnesota Crookston finished with 11 hits, led by two apiece from Blake, French and Juntunen. The Golden Eagles left 10 runners on base.
The Golden Eagles relied on Delaney Penner (So., P, Winkler, Manitoba), Megan Surgenor (Fr., P/3B, Andover, Minn.) and Emily Kalina (Fr., OF/P, Rice Lake, Wis.) to get them innings in the circle.
